Museums for Digital Learning has officially launched! 🚀
Welcome to the v2.3.0 release of Museums for Digital Learning. With this release we have several exciting updates that we hope you will like, some of the key highlights include:
- New site location.
- Museum can now control the publishment of their Objects.
- Updates to Privacy Policy and Terms of Use
New Site Location
MDL is officially live at https://MuseumsForDigitalLearning.org/! We are in the process of setting up a redirect for the old temporary URL.
Object Publishment
To improve the object creation workflow, Objects can now be marked as published or unpublished. This allows museums to create (and make public) objects at their own pace and lays a foundation for the MDL Collections Hub and Bulk Object Upload (coming soon).
Some rules about object publishment
- Objects cannot be published unless they include at least one media and any required text fields.
- Objects must be published before they can be used in a resource kit or appear in the site search.
- Like deleting an Object, all references to an object must be removed before the object can be unpublished.
All existing objects in the system have been set to published.
Library Sidebar Improvements
The Library sidebar can now be collapsed to improve usability on small screens.
Privacy Policy and Terms of Use
We made updates to MDL’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use to clarify that Newfields is responsible for site operations.
Other Improvements
- The Backstage Library sidebar can now be collapsed to provide more room to work.
- Corrected bug where the “Missing image” jpg file went missing 🤔
- Corrected bugs with tags and search filters
