Tips & Tricks

It’s 2025! A great resolution for this year might be to make a Resource Kit for MDL!

If that feels exciting - here are some tips and tricks to get started.

  1. Explore the Welcome to MDL page - here you can find a variety of resources, including a Resource Kit Planning Guide, that walks you through 6 recommended tasks for creating student friendly resources.

  1. Admin can go into the Museum Profile & Users section to add new users. Each new member has their own login and password. Once logged in, users are able to see uploaded media and objects as well as Resource Kits. This makes creating resources as a team easier! Consider inviting curators, collections experts, educators or volunteers to be a part of your team on MDL!

  1. Check out Resource Kits on the platform. You can filter by age, subject, and museums to look at content that might inspire the work you are doing. Guiding questions are an important new feature of Resource Kits that allow educators to understand what students will learn and it helps students to know what to focus on as they explore the resources.

Content Creation Cohorts - Sign up for 2025

We will be hosting more Content Creation Cohorts in Winter 2025! This is your opportunity to commit to creating more content from your amazing museum collection to share with the K-12 education community, with our support! This professional development opportunity helps you to create student ready content and establish a routine for future content creation.

From each museum, two museum professionals will join us for 6 virtual meetings across 11 weeks to develop Resource Kits that can be implemented in the K-12 classroom. By joining the MDL Content Creation Cohort, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with other museum professionals and MDL team members to create an authentic and high-quality Resource Kit. To support your commitment and the creation of these Resource Kits, MDL is offering a $1,500 stipend to your museum. If you are interested in participating, please complete the Google Form to indicate which cohort you would like to be a part of.

There may be an additional Content Creation Cohort added to the lineup if there is enough interest, starting in May, 2025.
