Welcome to the v4.0.0 release of Museums for Digital Learning. There are several updates in this version that we hope you will like, some of the key highlights include:
- Student and Educator user accounts
- Collections Hub
- Bulk upload Objects
Student and Educator
Limited Student and Educator accounts can now be created through Google single sign on. Any student or educator with a google account can create an MDL account. Participating Museum users will still register from a museum’s profile on the backstage. Collections Hub features are fully available to Students, Educators, and Museum users and partially available to non-account users (more clarification below).
Collections Hub
The collections hub is a place where users can browse all published museum objects independently of a resource kit. Users may sort these objects into their own personal collections and share these collections with others (either by link, through social media or searchable in the MDL collections hub). An MDL account is NOT required to create and share collections but is required if the user would like to make their collections publicly searchable or retain collection manageability across devices. A non-account user may create and share their collections by link or through social media.
Bulk Upload Objects
To improve the object creation process, objects can now be created in bulk through an CSV or Excel file. Instructions for Uploading multiple objects can be found on the Backstage Objects page after you select Create Object. Once you have uploaded your objects you can quickly add uploaded media to each object by selecting multiple media in the Library and dragging them onto the desired object.
